Respectful to prolong life

In the Buddha's era, an elder's son was about five or six years old. After Master Zhan looked at him, he found that he was very blessed, but unfortunately his life was too short.The elder was very worried when he heard this, so he took his son to the residence of the Sixth Master of the Heretics, hoping to seek a longevity for his son. As a result, the Sixth Master of the Outsider of the Sixth Master of the Shrine shook his head and sighed, indicating that he could not fulfill his wish.

So the elder brought his son to the Buddha's residence, bowed to the Buddha repeatedly, and said earnestly: World Honored One, Master Zhan Xiang said that although my son has sufficient blessings, his life span is short.He is a well-behaved child and hopes that the Buddha can give him a long life.The Buddha showed that there was no way to make the elder's son live longer.The elder did not give up and asked the Buddha again and again: World Honored One, please give me compassion.So the Buddha told the elder's son: When you go to the city gate and see anyone entering and leaving, you bow to them.

After the elder thanked the Buddha, he happily brought his son to the city gate.At that time, a ghost and god who turned into a Brahmin was about to enter the city. The elder and his son bowed respectfully according to the Buddha's teachings.The ghosts and gods were very happy and wished: I wish you a long life.This ghost and god are the messengers sent to take the child's life, but there is an order among ghosts and gods that they cannot regret what they say. Therefore, since this ghost and god have wished the child a long life, they cannot take his life.The elder's son was able to prolong his life because of humility, tolerance and respect.

The Buddha said: I have become a Buddha, but you have not become a Buddha.All sentient beings have Buddha nature, but because of their different roots, they also appear differently.If you can treat every sentient being as a future Buddha and treat it respectfully, you will not only have good connections and create a bright and unobstructed life, but also achieve something in the Tao and practice, and achieve the perfect Buddhahood.
