Is it difficult to give to poverty?Care about one thought

2021-01-18 Old Monk Xuyun

Yesterday I talked about the twenty difficulties in the "Forty-Two Chapters of the Sutra" that will come and change.Difficulty and ease are the treatment of Dharma. There are easy things in the difficulty, and there are difficulties in the easy things, and they are different for each person. If you don’t talk about anything else, just talk about poverty and donation!

Buddhist disciples practice the Bodhisattva path, and giving is the first of the six paramitas.Giving means giving, four immeasurable minds, compassion, joy and giving, giving means giving means giving, and giving means giving means liberation.Because everything is not owned by me, I can give up everything inside and outside, and I will be free naturally. What's the difficulty of giving?

When the Buddha was alive, there was a poor couple who were extremely poor. They lived in a broken thatched house and could barely shelter from the wind and rain. The two of them wore only a lower skirt, without upper clothes, and they could only wear one skirt when they went out, and the other was naked and left at home.So the two of them took turns going out to beg for food every day, so they took turns wearing this skirt. If the rice is too much, the two of them will be happy when they are full. They often have times when they are not enough or full, and they may even be hungry if they cannot be enough.

There is a monk who has attained the Arhat fruit and knows that the two of them have not planted good roots for many lifetimes and kalpas. Therefore, he is so poor that he comes to save him and beg for alms from him to help him grow blessings.

Seeing this monk begging for alms outside the door, the man asked him to wait outside, and came back to discuss with his wife: I did not practice in my previous life and I am so poor in this life.If you don’t practice in this life, you will inevitably suffer even more in the future. But if you want to give alms, you have nothing to offer to give alms. The two of them only share this skirt. If they donate, they cannot go out and both of them will starve to death. But if you don’t give alms, life will be useless. It is better to give it to the monk with this only thing sincerely. All kinds of good roots are worth it.His wife agreed.

The man then stretched out his head from the hole in the broken room and said to the monk: Great virtue, please be kind to me, and I hope to send this skirt to offer to the Buddha on my behalf. The monk received it with compassion and held it for offering sacrifices to the World Honored One.

At that time, the Buddha was preaching to King Bimbisara, and receiving this offering, he announced to the public the cause and condition of the couple's past calamity.Although they have not planted good roots, they only use one thought to do their best and give this skirt with great blessings. When the king heard about this, he took the two of them to see the couple. He saw them sleeping naked on the ground, so he rescued them and gave them food and clothing. He went to the Buddha's place together. When he saw the Buddha and heard the Dharma, he attained the fruit.

They were extremely poor, but if they could break the difficulty of giving, they would gain such benefits. It can be seen whether it is difficult to care about a single thought, there is no certainty.

In the Ming Dynasty, Luodian wrote a poem about awakening the world:

Hurry up and ask for it,

The cold and cold are warm and warm to the spring and autumn.

Build a family plan every day,

Meimei turned pale.

When will it be right or wrong?

When will the worries and worries be stopped?

It's clear that a road is clear,

Thousands of people refuse to practice.

Although this is a simple article and does not seem to have a deep truth, it describes the behavior of our karma ghosts throughout their lives.Whoever can escape from the rut of this poem is a great liberation person.
