现在的人，虽然没有这种财力，可是对于那些力所能及的事情，怎么可以不竭诚尽敬，以期三宝垂以慈悲，在冥冥之中或是显明之处给予我们加被呢？假使只是从事相形式上去做，心中了没有一丝诚敬之心，那么无量无边的佛法慈力，就没有办法可以感通了，反而说佛法不灵验，这怎么可以呢？这段文字是在《华严悬谈》和《会玄记》二书中节录出的。

唐朝定州中山僧修德法师，不知他的姓氏宗族。他习惯于勤苦修行，在山林中安心办道。以《华严经》、《起信论》为依靠专心修行。永徽四年，他发心要抄写《华严经》，于是另外建了一个清净的园子，里面种植谷楮树，并且兼带种植香花，用香水来灌溉他们。这样总共经历了三年，然后用洁净的谷楮树皮造纸。此外，还特别建筑了一个清净的高台，在台上建造屋室。聘请善于书写的沩州王恭抄写《华严经》，王恭先在别的园院受持斋戒，事先洗浴更衣，焚香散花，悬挂诸幢幡伞盖，礼拜经典忏悔业障，然后才升座书写。他下笔时，口中含着沉檀香，举起笔之后，才敢吐气呼吸，每日都是这么做。

修德法师每天进入静室之中运心观想，王恭每写完一卷，法师就赠送他细绢十匹，一部经总共有六百匹细绢。王恭乃竭尽其力专志精诚，所有的酬劳都不接受。王恭才写完整部经，不久便迁化往生。修德法师因为写经完成，于是设斋庆祝。大众集合之后，修德法师在佛像前，烧香散花，发下宏大的誓愿。刚打开经典，经典便放大光明，周遍七十余里，照耀整个定州城，城中的士人女子，都亲眼看到了。在中山当地的受斋大众，全部投身礼拜恭敬屈伏，心中悲伤哽咽一心忏悔自己的罪障。

在张静一点一画之间，法诚法师都心里想着，眼睛看着，完全没有遗漏错误。由于他这样至诚恭敬，一心倾注，常常感应到世间稀有、身体艳丽的灵异之鸟，飞入厅堂之中，盘旋飞舞。有时飞到经案下面，有时又飞到香炉上面，极为安静并观看写经，鸟的神态极为自然且温顺驯服，在这里停留长久一段时间才飞走。第二年，写经完毕后，即将举办庆祝之事，灵鸟再度飞来，如同从前一样温驯安静，它鸣叫的声音清澈而哀亮。

贞观初年，法诚法师发心造画千佛之像，灵鸟再次飞来，站在工匠的背上。后来营办斋食供养，以庆祝完成了诸经像，到了中午时分，大家都觉得那只奇怪灵鸟为何还不到。法诚法师回顾山岭说：灵鸟既然不来，那是因为我的诚心不够感人。难道是嫌弃我有种种污秽的行为，才致使有这样的征验？话音刚落，灵鸟忽然飞来，盘旋飞行而鸣啼，并进入香水之中，振奋双翅而洗浴，中午过后便又离去。前前后后这样灵验的事，多得无法一一叙述。

唐代僧人昙韵法师，定州人，七十岁时，当时隋朝末年极为战乱，因此隐居到离石一带的北千山，常常持诵《法华经》，想要书写此经，可是没有志同道合的人。如此经过了很多年，有一日忽然有一位书生，不知从何而来，自称说法师所要求的书写经典时要端洁清净，他都可以做到。因此，就在清晨日出时，饮食后便去洗浴，穿着干净的衣服，并受持八关斋戒。然后进入清净的房间，口中含着檀香，烧香悬幡，一心寂然安静而抄写经典，到了日落薄暮之时才出来。第二日，又如同先前一样，从来不曾说过疲倦。等到经典书写完之后，如法给予书生酬金，昙韵法师把他送出门外，书生一下子就不见了。

注：因昙韵法师想要书写经典的虔诚之心，才感得圣人前来应现。圣人虽然来应现，可是示现如同凡夫。所以能够专一其清净之法，清晨日出饮食后入浴，穿着清净衣等等。八戒，即是八关斋戒，以过了中午不饭食为体，以不杀生等八戒助成。关闭贪嗔痴等烦恼惑业，不令其生起。这是让在家人受出家戒，从今日早上清晨受，到明日太阳光明之相出现时为限。写经者令其日日常持八戒，故须日日常受八关斋戒。书生到日落薄暮才出来，也就是中午也不饮食了。

裹的读音为guo，是指包袱。一重一度香水洗手，就是读一回经典，先用香水洗一次手。书箱包巾坏烂而经典光鲜完好，一来这是因为圣人写经之法力加持，一来这是因为昙韵法师的诚心感动天地，一来是因为《妙法莲华经》的功德难以思议的缘故。昙韵法师后来住在隰（xi） buddhist story: animal story: two dogs
