The connotation of the topic we are going to discuss today is: How to make good relationships?
How to make good relationships?We know that making good relationships is a saying that we often hear, but how can we make good relationships?This is the topic we are going to discuss today.Before discussing this issue, the first question we need to discuss is: What are the so-called fates?How is a good fate?So what is the purpose of making good friends?Then let’s discuss: How to make good friends?
Let’s first study what so-called fates are.How to understand these fates?Let us first give a passage of the holy teachings of the World Honored Ones.The Buddha gave this teaching in the Agama Sutra, and the Buddha said: Why are there two difficulties to solve the Dharma?Those who have causes and conditions will be defiled, and those who have causes and conditions will be purified.(Volume 9 of the "Long Agama Sutra")
Therefore, the causes and conditions of sentient beings are very different and there are various differences. Therefore, the minds of sentient beings are defiled, or the minds of sentient beings are able to attain purity. These various causes and conditions are very difficult for ordinary sentient beings to understand;What's more, you can understand these causes and conditions, or have a perfect understanding;Only all Buddhas and Tathagatas can understand all causes, conditions, consequences, because this involves the issue of causes, conditions, and consequences, and only all Buddhas can fully understand them.If ordinary people want to know these, they must have some knowledge and understanding based on the teachings of the classic holy teachings, and then they can realize these true meanings through realization;Then practice and verify according to the teachings of the holy teachings, and then you can truly realize the basis of cause and effect, that is, you can realize the eighth consciousness of the true mind of the Dharma Realm, and then you can turn to the pure nature of the Tathagatagarbha to practice the Bodhisattva path, so you have the wisdom of Prajna to see the true mind of the Dharma Realm;With such a view of Prajna wisdom, it is verified with the teachings of the holy teachings, and then it is organized with the thinking of comparatively.This is the principle that the Buddha taught us, so that we can become the prerequisite achievement for the next stage of hard work.Because in this way, practice in accordance with the principles of the three quantities, you can increase your wisdom bit by bit, assist yourself in collecting vast and boundless blessings, and finally achieve all the wisdom in the ultimate Buddha land, and complete the path to becoming a Buddha.
So, what are the fates?Generally speaking, it can be classified from many different levels;These categories are based on different aptitudes, different sentient beings, and different stages of cultivation and verification, so there are many different categories.Today we classify the detailed parts as we know them and are roughly explained.If you have the opportunity to participate in the Zen and Prayer class in our Zhengjue Lecture Hall, our personal teachers will explain it in the course.
For ordinary people, the classification of fate includes so-called good fate, bad fate, defilement, and pure fate, or sometimes it is divided into fate that follows one's own heart, against one's own heart, or obstacles, or auxiliary fate that helps the Tao, or closer, more distant fate, or some fates are present, past, future, and even various different fates.Because this is from different angles and levels, there are all kinds of different differences.
However, for a practitioner of the Bodhisattva Path, we are already making four great vows and making vows to practice the Bodhisattva Path for generations, hoping to practice Samantabhadra's practices in life after life, and benefit all sentient beings, so that we can benefit ourselves and others and finally achieve the Buddha's path;Therefore, in the process of practicing the Bodhisattva Path in the world, one will benefit sentient beings in life, or guide sentient beings to save sentient beings. Therefore, one must get along with many sentient beings, so that one can get along with sentient beings in life, and even work together in life.Bodhisattvas use this opportunity to collect many and many fates, so that the good and pure fates that achieve the Buddha's path can be transformed into a mature condition, and the evil fates that hinder the Buddha's path can be transformed into a lack of fate.
Because every Bodhisattva will eventually achieve the Buddha's path, but if you want to achieve the Buddha's path, you must have sufficient corresponding achievements in blessings, wisdom and merit at every level and at every stage.In other words, all obstacles and difficulties can be eliminated, that is, all obstacles and difficulties can be eliminated. This will lead to the successive efforts of life after life, so that the Buddha's path can be achieved step by step.Therefore, in addition to achieving the good and pure seeds contained in the heart of Tathagatagarbha as a cause, the Bodhisattvas also need many help to assist their own way to become a Buddha;Only in this way can we achieve Buddhahood step by step and complete the merits that the Buddha land should have.Therefore, when we practice the Bodhisattva path in the causal realm, because we are still in the causal realm, there are still many ignorances and many defilements.Because of the hard work of practicing based on the holy teachings and wisdom, we can practice and collect all kinds of causes with colleagues of sentient beings in life after life, and some of the causes are to help the progress of Buddhism and path become a helping factor;However, there are also conditions that hinder the Buddha's path and become obstacles to one's own practice.Therefore, when we practice the Bodhisattva path, we should still use the holy teachings as the basis and wisdom as the guide, so as to determine all the conditions we encounter and at the same time collect all the conditions that should be fully possessed;In this way, the good and pure relationship that can help oneself achieve the Buddha's path can make the cause mature, and the defilement and evil relationship that hinders one's achievements in the Buddha's path can make the cause lack without hindering.
However, most sentient beings rely on their own habits of ignorance and use their own conscious and emotional power to believe that as long as they follow my heart is good and pure fate, and when they go against my heart is evil fate;In this way, you are not a wise person, but fall into consciousness and emotion, and flow according to your karma habits.Therefore, before we make good relationships, we must first understand what kind of essence is good and pure relationship, and we must have wisdom to distinguish: how is good and pure relationship?What is evil deeds?Is the fate that follows my mind’s thoughts a must be a good and pure fate?Is the fate that goes against what I think must be a bad fate?In fact, it is not certain, because good and evil defilement and purity are not necessarily the same as good and unfaithful. These are two things.Sometimes a good mood is a good and pure fate, but sometimes it is a bad fate;By the same token state, the state of rebellious mind may not be good or purity or defilement.However, what is the difference?Therefore, we must make decisions based on wisdom as the guide, and we must look at them from the essence, not from the perspective of awareness.
However, all sentient beings act according to their emotions and feel, often do not pay attention to the connotation of their essence, and focus more on the perception of appearance.Let’s give a brief example to illustrate.In the process of learning Buddhism, we are very important for the choice of good teachers;Therefore, if you do not have the help of good teachers in learning Buddhism, then your progress in your Taoism will be hindered;Therefore, the help of good teachers is very important.However, some people are obsessed with appearance, look at good teachers from the outside characteristics, and look at good teachers from the outside, without paying attention to the essence of good teachers;He believes that as long as he is a famous person, or that he is a good teacher, or that he believes that as long as he becomes a monk and wears monk's robes, he believes that he is a good teacher.He does not judge whether it is good, evil, defilement, and purity from the content or connotation of the teachings said by this good teacher, but only makes decisions based on these superficial self-consciousness, so as to determine whether he is a good teacher through appearance.If this is the case, then when he meets the two masters, Hanshan and Shide, he will miss this great cause and effect.
Therefore, what is a good and pure fate?Good fate means: it is a merit that helps the Tao and the Dharma, and the function that helps the Tao and the Dharma.In other words, if this cause and condition appears, no matter whether it is a state of satisfaction or a state of disobedience, as long as it is essentially helpful to one's own deeds and to eliminate one's own obstacles, it is good and pure condition.You may not be a famous master, but perhaps an unknown young lay Buddhist in your neighbor, who is also your good teacher;Because he has the meaning of empirical connotation, he is wise and meritable, and can really make you progress in Buddhism and Taoism;Instead of superficial feelings, following your heart is a good and pure fate.
Therefore, a wise person should check whether the seven holy wealth is complete or not.In other words, does this good teacher have the seven holy wealth?To be faithful to wealth, abstain from wealth, ashamed of wealth, ashamed of wealth, hearing of wealth, giving up wealth, and wisdom of wealth, to be able to make good connections with these good teachers;Instead of being more important than the superficial appearance, it is determined by goodness, purity or evil.Therefore, when Buddhist disciples choose good teachers, they must follow the content of the teachings of good teachers. The content of this good teacher's teachings is in line with the holy teachings and in line with the truth.The fate of this good teacher is based on the essence of the fate itself. It conforms to the principle of the three qualities: it conforms to the holy teachings taught by the Buddha, it conforms to the factual observation of the present qualities, it conforms to the argument of the comparison, it does not violate logic, nor contradict each other.Moreover, Buddhist disciples should also make good connections with good teachers based on the Four Laws, which is a wise way to make good connections.If we do not have wisdom but are obsessed with appearances, then we think we are making good relationships, but in the end we are making bad relationships. The original intention of being good and pure is, but we are disturbed by evil causes and conditions, it will be more than worth the loss.
Let's give an example.For example, some heretics who are attached to Buddhism and Dharma, and the Dharma they speak are the two-body methods of heretics, but they beautify the names and appearances and say they are supreme yoga;In fact, what these heretics who are attached to Buddhism and do not say is not Buddhism at all, but they pretend to be the name of Buddhism to cover ignorant sentient beings.Moreover, some heretics who are attached to Buddhism often claim to be the reincarnation of Guanyin Bodhisattva or the reincarnation of other great Bodhisattvas, but what they say is the content that destroys Buddhism.For example, they deny the eighth consciousness of the true mind of the Dharma Realm, Tathagatagarbha Alaya consciousness, and they also advocate that the impermanence of birth and death is permanent and immortal, or they advocate that the dual body law of men and women who commit adultery is ultimate;Therefore, this kind of cult guides sentient beings to commit great lies, commit evil deeds of adultery or slandering the Dharma. This is the evil karma to go to the three evil realms.However, such a master of heretics has a great name and great reputation, and is internationally renowned.However, when encountering believers who are unconscious and do not follow their wisdom, they vigorously protect such heretics, thinking that protecting such heretics has great merits, or they may be blessed by these masters;So I attracted many people to participate in this type of initiation ceremony.However, they did not know what the content of these supreme yoga, Kalachakra, and Great Bliss and Light of the Great Bliss are;In fact, the contents here are all heretics' laws of the two-body Dharma, and they are not Buddhism at all.If sentient beings make connections with this heretic, they are essentially making bad karma, and they are not making good karma at all;Because the heretics say and do not correspond to liberation, nor do they correspond to the Buddha's path to becoming a Buddha.If we form such a relationship, we will not be able to accept the Dharma at all, but we will only collect the relationship between the three evil realms.
Therefore, to make good connections, one must be able to accept the Dharma to make good connections;If the relationship formed, its content and behavior violate the Dharma, violate the orthodox religion, or violate the truth, then it is not to accept the Dharma, it is to accept the wrong view, accept the evil Dharma, and it is to make evil karma.Such a great evil relationship makes him want to seek the good realm in his heart, but he ends up being ignorant and unwise. The opposite way of going to the evil realm is essentially a wise behavior that deviates from the Buddhist path.
So, how can we make good relationships?This requires wisdom as the guide to make a choice, the achievements of the seven holy wealth should be taken as the core point, and the content and connotation of the Dharma should be based on the acceptance of the content and connotation of the Dharma.Because the reasonable and teachings of receiving the Dharma is the land that accepts and achieves the Buddha's path;Therefore, the simplicity of wisdom is very, very important for making good relationships.There is a way to choose the Dharma and choose good teachers through wisdom and simple selection, and to test it one by one, conform to the three-dimensional facts, and act according to the teachings of the holy teachings;At the same time, we must cooperate with our own wisdom to make good relationships in this way, which is in accordance with the Dharma, teachings and rationality.If what you say and do is not to accept the Dharma, not to conform to the holy teachings, or to facts, then what you say, learn and do is to absorb wrong views, and even create unlovable evil deeds. Such a relationship is just to accept demonic karma, rather than to make good relationships.
Therefore, the purpose of making good relationships is to be able to make our Buddhist path progress, rather than regress, or even fall into the evil realms.Therefore, all sentient beings, such wise people, should make good connections with good teachers first, and should make decisions from the substantial level and substantive connotation. They should choose good teachers based on the four teachings of the Buddha, according to the law, according to the meaning, according to the meaning, according to the wisdom, according to the knowledge, according to the ultimate scriptures, not the ultimate scriptures, and according to the meaning and the ultimate scriptures, they should choose good teachers in this way.At the same time, we practice the Bodhisattva Path in a reasonable and teaching manner, and we can make good connections in practicing, so that we can absorb sentient beings, and we can make good connections in a lifetime to achieve the Buddha's path;Therefore, you can obtain the vast and unobstructed blessings, and at the same time you can attain the wisdom of perfection and unobstructed wisdom, and you can also achieve the merit of practicing and realizing the perfect Dharma in a sequence.
So, how to make good relationships?Let us give a lecture on the Buddha's holy teachings, which explain some key points.Let’s look at a holy teaching from the Buddha in Volume 3 of the Mahayana Sutra of the Innate Heart of the Mahayana Sutra.The Buddha said: When all Bodhisattvas practice the supreme path, they should know the four kinds of Dharma. Being close to good friends is the first, listening to the Dharma is the second, thinking rationally is the third, and practicing according to the Dharma is the fourth, and practicing according to the Dharma is the fourth, and practicing all the great sages in the ten directions. Practicing these four Dharmas to attain Bodhi.(Volume 3 of the Mahayana Sutra of the Original Heart Sutra) Okay, we have already explained clearly from the Buddha’s teachings here that if all Bodhisattvas want to practice the extraordinary path of Buddha Bodhi and liberation, they must practice the path of holy;If you can achieve success, you must follow four laws to practice them rationally
The first is to be close to good friends, not bad friends.As we mentioned earlier, when choosing good friends and good teachers, we should make a decision based on the teachings of the holy teachings, so that we can get close to good friends and good teachers and learn Buddhism and practice.This is the first point to pay attention to to make good friends.
What is the second point to pay attention to?It means that after getting close to good friends and good teachers, you must also hear the content of good friends teaching us the Dharma and the content of practicing;In this way, through the practice of listening and practicing, you can achieve the mind and mind, and keep listening to the Dharma, you can establish correct knowledge and views;Only by having such correct knowledge and practice it truthfully can we truly make good relationships rather than bad relationships.
The third part is what is the focus of attention?It is necessary to pay attention to getting close to a true good teacher and listening to the teachings of the Dharma from the place of good teachers and friends. This way, after learning more and practicing, is not enough;We must also be able to reasonably think about what the good teacher taught us to understand whether these principles are in line with the right principles and whether they are in line with the right religion;This content must conform to the right principles and the right religion, which is the principle we must follow.Therefore, all Bodhisattvas must organize and summarize the Dharma knowledge and insights obtained through such rational thinking, and only in the future can they have a systematic understanding and practice it truthfully.Therefore, after getting close to good friends and listening to the Dharma, you must be able to reasonably consider these principles.
Next, the fourth part is to practice and verify according to the Dharma.Because Buddhism emphasizes the real reality and the true reality of the Dharma Realm;After getting close to good friends, listening to the Dharma, and thinking rationally, we must be able to practice and verify it.However, when practicing and empirizing, one should practice and empirize in accordance with the principles of reason and law, because only in this way can one truly achieve the goal of making good connections.
Therefore, the Buddha's teachings ended with the end of this passage: All the great sages in the ten directions practice the four dharmas to attain Bodhi.In other words, all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Great Sages in the three realms and ten directions have all practiced these four Dharma keys to realize the connotation of the Three Vehicles of Bodhi;Therefore, how to make good relationships with us should pay attention to these four key points.To make good relationships with good teachers and sentient beings, you must conform to the three aspects of the content and wisdom is the guide, so that you can achieve Buddhahood and achieve liberation.
