Master Da'an replied:The main mentality of reciting scriptures is sincere and earnest.When reciting scriptures, what do you call the standard of attentiveness?It is when you read this voice out, listen to it yourself, and listen clearly;And you don’t have to be careful, you still think about it with your heart... This doesn’t work, it just recites it very purely and very closely.Once you use your heart, the mind you use is still the mind consciousness, which will hinder your understanding of the meaning of the "Dipankara Sutra".

When reciting scriptures, you don’t have the heart and consciousness, you just recite them continuously and listen to them yourself.Don’t worry about whether there are any distracting thoughts. There must be distracting thoughts during the chanting of scriptures, because our hearts are full of distracting thoughts;But when you focus on this sincerely and read it out and listen to it, your distractions will become less and less. If so, don’t pay attention to it.But be careful: your distracting thought that naturally emerges, you don’t care about it.Don’t have a way of thinking about something in your mind, it’s not good.So if you recite scriptures, you have to complete the things you have at hand in the world. At least you have no psychological worries. If you have no worries, you can recite them.If you are worried about one thing, that is that you always think about that thing, that's bad;Don’t worry about the distracting thoughts that naturally arise.That's all.
