显然，对于大多数学佛人来说，要做到‘不取于相，如如不动’非常困难。因此，一方面，讲经说法具有无量的功德；另一方面，讲经说法也需要长期学习和修行的积累，并不容易。

出家人当中，自古以来就流传着一句话：‘以弘法为家务，以利生为事业’。是的，这是出家僧众所应当践行的本分事。作为一个出家人，倘若不能够如此发愿与承当的话，难免会空过此生，遗憾将来，愧为沙门一场。

对于发起了如此宏愿的出家人来说，乃至于发起了如此宏愿的大德居士来说，需要根据自己的实际情况，本着‘教学相长’的谦虚态度，循序渐进地学习讲经说法。

关于讲经，智者大师提倡按照三个步骤，对于经文逐层深入进行讲解。这三个步骤是：

首先，要消化经文的文字内容，说法人应当把重要的字、词读音以及含义都讲解清楚，在此基础上，把每一个句子，其中的基本文义讲解清楚。

我自己就有类似的体验，刚开始，三宝对于我来说，只是一个概念，一个模糊的概念，空洞而有些遥远。然而，好在我有好奇心，想要了解佛经和佛法，于是，我就在工作之余，坚持念经闻、思、修。久而久之，随着自己对于佛经的理解逐渐深入，自己的心境也就逐渐开朗，智慧逐渐开明，切身体会到了佛法的好处，自然也就生起了越来越坚定的信心，发自内心地皈依了三宝。并且，再也不会动摇。

除了出家戒律之外，一切在家戒律都是公开的，包括五戒、八关斋戒、在家菩萨戒等，无论受戒与否，都可以进行研究和学习。

关于持戒的基本内容和方法，我们以五戒为例，做一个简单的介绍：

首先，我们应当知道，佛陀制定戒律，是为了帮助我们约束自己的身心行为，达到减少造业，增长善根的目的。这样的话，就可以保护着我们，一路走向解脱。

其次，戒律并不是死板的条条框框，其中也有着很多灵活的许可——叫做‘开缘’，就是可以做，而不犯戒的一些特殊情况。最常见的，例如：方便妄语、必要的用酒治病等等，都属于‘开缘’之列。

而且，为了更加广泛地适应信众的根机，对于五戒，佛陀甚至允许逐条分受，就是说，你可以做到哪一条，就单受哪一条，两条、三条、四条都可以，而不必一定要同时受五条戒律。

这样的好处显而易见，它尽可能地包容了芸芸众生，让更多的人能够受持佛戒，种下解脱的善根。因为，即使同样能够做到‘不邪淫’、‘不妄语’等等，而受戒与否，其功用是大不相同的。不受戒的时候，这些都属于人天善法，只能带来世间福报，不能累积成为解脱生死轮回的力量；而受了五戒以后，能够依戒奉行，就是在随顺佛陀的教导，就会与佛陀的广大愿力相应，在佛力的加持下，迅速解脱轮回苦海。

善巧地持戒，就是八万四千法门当中的一种解脱妙法。《楞严经》第五卷，二十五位圣者自述圆通，其中优波离尊者就是通过持戒修身，进而持心，最终身得自在，心得通达，‘然后身心一切通利’，而成就阿罗汉果的。

持守五戒也是一样，持戒本身不是目的，目的在于，通过持戒使自己的身体言行逐渐规范而清净，同时，也使自己的心念得以收摄，不再妄想纷飞——因为，你有一个想要持戒的‘正念’，这个‘正念’的存在，粉碎了妄想杂念。正所谓：持戒以生定，因定而发慧。
