The Buddha said that external giving and doing good deeds are far less than the merit of practical practice.

The merit of practice is greater than external giving

【Introduction to Buddhist scriptures] The Lotus Sutra was said by Sakyamuni Buddha on Lingsheng Mountain in Rashe City before Nirvana. It mainly talks about "opening the power and revealing reality" and "comprehensive the three to one", and integrating the three vehicles into one vehicle (Buddha vehicle).Taking the two vehicles of "Shravakas" and "Pratyekabuddhas" as convenience, the "Two Vehicles" must ultimately take becoming a Buddha as their ultimate goal, and the ancestors praised it as "the Lotus Sutra for becoming a Buddha."

【Verse explanation] If someone uses seven treasures such as gold, silver, glass, conch, red beads, and agate, to offer so many to the three thousand great worlds, and to offer to the Buddha, as well as great Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, Arhats: use it to offer to Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, or to offer to Pratyekabuddhas and Arhats."It is better to uphold this Lotus Sutra or even one or four verses, and the most blessings are worse than to uphold this Lotus Sutra or even one or four verses.": It is better to uphold this Lotus Sutra or even to receive one or four verses, and the merits obtained by this person are better than to uphold this Lotus Sutra or even to receive one or four verses.The blessings of the person who upholds the Lotus Sutra are greater than the merits of offering sacrifices to the Buddha with seven treasures and three thousand great thousand worlds!
